Can you void your new car Warranty with Remote starts, Bluetooth, Navigation, etc ?

Car Dealerships are in violation of Federal Law if they tell you that adding an aftermarket product automatically voids your new car warranty. BUT, Be careful There is NO Federal, State, or Local Licensing, Training, or Requirements needed for someone to work on your car! That means just because a business exists doesn’t mean they know what they are doing. Also Your warranty CAN BE voided if the dealership can SHOW or Prove something caused or contributed to a failure in the Vehicle!…

Get a CarFax Report on the car

This entry is part 8 of 8 in the series Buying a Used Car

Get a CarFax Report on the car

CarFax is your guiding light in the process of buying a used car.  EVERY car, since 1965, has a VIN and that VIN identifies the car in CarFax.  EVERY TIME the car was brought into a dealer or mechanic for maintenance or repair that visit appears in CarFax.

EVERY major body shop notifies CarFax of all work done on cars.  If the car is totaled because of water damage that is indicated too.  Every time the car changes hand CarFax knows about it.

I posted an entire series on CarFax and it makes for great reading.

Many car dealers have the CarFax on their cars but you still need to learn how to read the report.  If you’re not careful the dealer might “accidentally” leave out a section that deals with the car being in an accident.  You know how accidents can happen.

Detailing your car for sale

Detailing your car

If your car looks showroom ready you can expect top dollar on the resale market.  If it looks sad, stinks, and has garbage in the backseat you can expect little interest and low resale value.  Take a Saturday/Sunday and make your car look like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Get rid of that monkey

This entry is part 3 of 6 in the series Selling a Used Car

Put the monkey back on the buyer’s back

No matter what objection the buyer throws at you the best way to address the objection is to just throw that monkey right back onto the buyer.  This is the trick that ALL salesreps use – let the buyer answer their own question and see if it is in the seller’s best interests.  Some examples:

Selling your car

This entry is part 1 of 6 in the series Selling a Used Car

Selling your car

Selling your car is the opposite of buying a used car; everything I’ve taught you to buy a used car you must now be used in reverse – it’s easy.

There is just ONE thing that influences your sale – the price.  You can’t just pull a number out of thin air, that number must mean something.  That asking price is the upper limit for the buyer and that buyer is in control of this sale.

Extended Warranties

This entry is part 5 of 8 in the series Buying a Used Car

Used Car Extended Warranties

How lucky do you feel?

If a used car has less than 140,000 miles you can get extended warranty protection; it’s not cheap but it will cover the major things that can go wrong for and additional 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The company I recommend is SmartAutoWarranty.com which is owned by CarChex.com and is the preferred extended Warranty Company of eBay Motors, AutoScoop, CarFax, Cars.com, LendingTree, RoadLoans, and many more.  You are in very good company with this company.
